Onosis spinosa
- although I have photographed this little flower
before this year, in some areas it seems to be
the only plant in bloom. Known in English as Spiny
Rest Harrow, it’s spines certainly seem
to deter sheep and goats, even now when other
vegetation is extremely sparse.
Picnomon acarna
- this spiny plant grows in abundance in dry riverbeds
and abandoned fields. An attractive plant, once
it has withered, takes on a rich golden colour,
which looks even prettier.
Sedum amplexicaule
subsp. tenuifoium - this subspecies is
found on Crete. It is found on rocky slopes and
in phryganae. The flowers are produced at the
tip of the stems and are around 1.5 cms.
