Biographies
Julia Jones, FLS
Julia Jones is a writer and artist from the UK, now living in Pano Elounda. In 2006 she formed ‘Flowers of Crete’ – an organisation for the protection and conservation of the wild flora of the island.
She is a Fellow of the Linnaean Society of London and has written several books which were published in the UK. Ms Jones is also a member of Plantlife International and Planta Europa and her images of endangered Cretan plants can be found on the international Database ARKive. In 2007 she spoke on behalf of the conservation of Cretan Flora at an International Conference in Cluj Napoca, Romania. |
Dr. Rosemary John, Ph.D. FLS
Dr John is a botanist from the UK, who lives with her husband in Elounda. She has a special interest in the flowers of Crete. Dr John gained her Ph D at Swansea University in Wales and her specialization is the genetics of endangered species. Dr John is also a Fellow of the Linnaean Society of London. |
Together Ms Jones and Dr John are working on a species list for the Nature Reserve at Pezoulia, Vrahassi and this will be available from spring, 2010.
